Optimal Size & Strength
Commercial animal medications may be available in only one size or strength. For example, one tablet may be too large to give a cat, yet multiple tablets may be needed for a horse. Often times manufacturers stop producing medicines and dosage forms which are unprofitable to market due to low demand. However there is still the occasional need for such products. Perhaps the veterinary formulation is unavailable, and for one reason or another, the human preparation just won't do. We can obtain the necessary ingredients and compound them into individualized dosage forms that may even prove to be superior to the discontinued formulation.
Ideal Dosage Form
The active ingredient(s) can usually be administered by various routes so we compound numerous dosage forms that are just right for specific animals. We can combine several compatible ingredients to simplify administration of the medication. Many medications are compatible with transdermal bases as well, which are particularly useful for animals who should not be stressed due to cardiovascular or hypertensive illness. Owners also appreciate no longer having to fight with an animal who resists being medicated, and the resulting scratches!

Flavoring
Trying to administer medication to an animal is not always easy. We can prepare oral medications in easy-to-give flavored dosage forms that animals love. In addition to animal preference, when we flavor medications for animals, we also take into account the different properties of the chemicals that can affect the flavor, such as bitterness. This way we can mask the unpleasant properties and make the medication more palatable for the animal. Which in turn makes it easier on the owners as well. A few examples of the flavors we offer are fish, beef, chicken, tutti fruitti, apple, and peanut butter.
